Freeride & Off-Piste Skiing Course in the Monte Rosa ski area
Off-piste skiing on virgin, isolated terrain is probably the best ski experience ever; absolute freedom without safety nets, boundary markers and signs! Freedom, however, that abides by nature’s rules and not human ones.
The goal of this two day course is to become aware of these “natural rules” while skiing the beautiful Monte Rosa off-piste terrain.
Day 1: meet in Alagna in the afternoon, hotel and dinner. After dinner theory class on the avalanche beacon and how it is used in an avalanche rescue situation.
Day 2: Off-piste day in the Monterosaski area. Practical lesson on avalanche rescue with a beacon using the centre for avalanche rescue at the Passo Salati. Dinner and accommodation at the Rifugio Guglielmina.
Day 3: day dedicated to skiing off-piste on steep terrain. Practical lessons in lowering into couloirs off of a rope.
