This tour is a dog sledding adventure combined with the delicious experience of a King Crab Safari.  Prior to the start of your dog sled adventure you will take a boat trip to see divers dive the arctic waters for the regional delicacy of the giant King Crab.  Afterwards you will be able to enjoy a veritable feast of the delicious fresh crab.

You will then go on to experience different types of traditional accommodation and enjoy tasty traditional meals.  On this adventure you will experience the wonderful Arctic environment, have the opportunity to learn more about the region and its unspoilt nature and at the same time learn to run and manage your own dog team and use husky dog sleds as your exciting and exhilarating mode of transport.  You will learn the musher's ABC and take an active part in the dog sledding.

On this trip you will get the real experience and live life with a dog team.  You participate in all the work, from getting the dogs ready, feeding, making the camp, keeping the fire running and so on.

This is a true experience in the arctic environment and you can have the opportunity to travel on frozen rivers, through great forests, across arctic tundra and along the Russian border.  As a finale to the trip you will spend your last night at the Snow Hotel, a unique experience!

Day 1:  Fly UK - Oslo connecting on to Kirkenes.  You will arrive in the afternoon at Kirkenes airport.  You will be met at the airport upon your arrival.  Visit to the National Park Centre.  Transfer to the Pasvik Taiga, a very comfortable and traditional guest house with restaurant in the Pasvik valley.  Optional tour with guide to try cross country skiing on flood lit tracks or snowshoeing.  Back to the Pasvik Taiga where you will have a delicious evening meal and accommodation for the night.

Day 2:  After breakfast at the Pasvik Taiga you go on a guided tour out to Jarifjord by the Arctic sea.  Here you will begin the King Crab adventure with being kitted out with special warm Arctic clothing.  Boat journey with diver to experince the Fjiord and see the diver collect the crabs from the sea floor.  During the boat trip you will learn about the King Crabs, their breeding and development around this coast line from Russia.    After sufficient crabs have been collected for your lunch you will return to base for a lecture and short film show on the life of the King Crab.  A truly special delicacy.  Then a wonderful lunch banquet of your freshly cooked King Crab will begin.  Your chance to eat large amounts of this tasty dish prepared in the traditional way.  After lunch you will have a tour around the town of Kirkenes and a visit to the Grenselandmuseet (Borderland Museum).  You will then return to the Pasvik Taiga for a delicious evening meal and accommodation.

Day 3:  After breakfast you will transfer to the Husky farm.  Once at the farm you will be given warm Arctic clothing and boots to wear.  During a tour of the husky farm you will have the opportunity to meet the husky dogs.  Instruction will be given on handling the huskys, setting up your sled and harnessing your dogs.  You will then be given tuition on handling the dog sled and managing your dog team.  A tasty informal lunch will be served in a Sami lavvu.  Then you will be all set to make your first journey by husky sled.  Later in the day you will arrive at a wilderness cabin where you are able to have a sauna and wash.  A tasty evening meal will be cooked and served at the cabin.  Every one can help with feeding the dogs too and preparing the wood burning stoves for a cosy evening.  You will spend the night at the cabin in comfortable accommodation.

Day 4:  Breakfast.  Prepare your dog teams and sleds.  Full day dog sledding with open air or cabin lunch depending on the weather.  After an exciting and interesting day you will return to the wilderness cabin for sauna.  Evening meal and accommodation.

Day 5:  Breakfast.  Prepare your dog teams and sleds.  Full day dog sledding with open air lunch around an open fire.  After an exciting and interesting day depending on the weather conditions you will either make camp and spend the night in a Sami lavvu (Sami tent), go to a new wilderness cabin or return to the first cabin for sauna.  Evening meal and accommodation.

Day 6:  Breakfast.  Prepare your dog teams and sleds for the final dog sled tour.  The final days tour will take you along the Pasvik river which is the Norwegian border with Russia.  You will be dog sledding only a few metres from the Russian border.  Lunch will be at a Viking long house.  At the end of the afternoon you will return to the husky farm, feed and settle the dogs.  You will then be transferred to the Kirkenes Snow Hotel.  After a guided tour of the Snow Hotel you will have an opportunity to chose your bedroom.  Later in the evening you will be served a delicious meal and will be given a talk on how to make your stay at the Snow Hotel a warm and cosy experience.

Day 7:  After breakfast at the Snow Hotel you will then be transported to the airport for your return flight.
