Ski Touring in the Bernese Oberland – 5 Days

A wonderful ski tour that can be arranged over a weekend making up a long weekend ski trip.  You will enjoy skiing amongst some of the 4000 metres classic mountains and enjoy ski descents down to the massive Oberland glaciers of Switzerland.

Time of year:  March - April

Day 1:

• Fly into Milan Malpensa Airport on the first available morning flight.
• You will be met by your guide and at the airport and then transported to Goppenstein in Switzerland.  
• Here you will take the train from Goppenstein to Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland and you will have over night accommodation and breakfast at the Mountain Hotel.

Day 2:

• Rise for breakfast and take the early train up to the Jungfraujoch.  This is the famous train that goes through the Eiger mountain.
• At the Jungfraujoch, if required you will have instruction on the fitting of skins to your skis and skinning technique used in ski touring.  From here on you will be travelling on skis!
• You will start with an easy climb on skins up to the Monchjochhut - skiing down to the Konkordiaplatz – then climbing up again on skins to the GrunhornLucke - skiing down to the Finsteraarhornhut, here you will spend the night.

Day 3:

• Breakfast
• In the morning you will skin up to the Wissy Nolen - skiing down to the glacier
• Then a skin up to the Grunhornlucke - skiing down to the Konkordia hut
• Here you will spend the night – your hardest climb will be the one up the stairs to the hut!
• Skis can be left at the bottom of the stairs though.

Day 4:

• Breakfast
• In the morning you will skin a long the Jungfraufirn and up to the Louwihorn - skiing down along the Louwifirn
• Then a skin up to the Hollandia hut where you will spend the night.

Day 5:

• Breakfast
• In the morning you will climb up to the Abeni Flue on skins - skiing down along the Lotschental valley until Faffleralp
• At Faffleralp you will catch the Yellow Post bus back to Goppenstein – From Goppenstein you will be transported back to Milan Malpensa airport in time to catch the evening flight home.
