Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the Troms and Finnmark coast has ice free seas and generally mild winters. There is a lot of snow in winter, but many areas are protected by the mountains and are therefore sheltered from the wind and the cold blowing off the sea. For specific guidance on temperatures, please see our temperature table.

The first snow falls at the start of November, with snow lying on the ground from the end of the month. Conditions for winter activities are perfect right through to the end of April.
