The Husky Tour programme offers maximum enjoyment in the minimum of time. This is a five day programme including the arrival and departure day.
You do not need to be exceptionally fit or strong. The guides will match the number of huskies in your team with your strength. A reasonable level of fitness, concentration and a sense of balance are the key attributes needed. Distances travelled will be approximately 25-50km per day. Your first and last night’s accommodation with be at the Husky Lodge base. The sled dog tour starts from the lodge and you will travel to a remote wilderness cabin.
Day 1: Programme starts with dinner. The guide will then give you the first briefing regarding the tour.
Day 2: You will be provided with over clothing and the morning is spent getting fitted for snowsuits, boots and other equipment. Then you will work with the guide organising the teams of huskies and learn the basics of caring for your team and driving the sleds. The long sled-tour starts directly from the lodge over a hilly stretch, lakes and marshes.
Day 3: You spend two nights at the wilderness cabin, which enables you to travel light when you explore the area. You will stop for a lunch break around an open fire. The area is an important winter pasture for reindeers.
Day 4: You will have a long stretch through a variety of beautiful Arctic landscape back to the lodge. A warm sauna is waiting for you and you will have a farewell dinner gathered in the warm atmosphere.
Day 5: The program ends at breakfast.
We do recommend though that you consider staying some extra days for interesting activities and visits in the neighbouring area.
