On this trip you will experience the amazing Arctic environment, have the opportunity to learn more about the region and its unspoilt nature and at the same time learn to run and manage your own dog team and use husky dog sleds as your exciting and exhilarating mode of transport during your adventure in the Arctic.

You will study the musher's ABC, take an active part in the dog sledding and sleep over in a comfortable wilderness cabin.  There will be tasty food and a lot of good stories.  On this trip you will get the real experience and live life with a dog team.  You participate in all the work, from getting the dogs ready, feeding, making the camp, keeping the fire running and so on. This is a true experience in the arctic environment and you can have the opportunity to travel on frozen rivers, through great forests and across arctic tundra.

Day 1:  Fly UK - Oslo connecting on to Kirkenes. You will arrive in the afternoon at Kirkenes airport.  You will be met at the airport upon your arrival and transported to the Pasvik Tiaga, a very comfortable and traditional guest house with restaurant in the Pasvik valley.  Here you will have a delicious evening meal and accommodation for the night.

Day 2:  After breakfast at the Pasvik Tiaga you will be met and transported to the husky farm.  Once at the farm you will be given warm arctic clothing and boots to wear.  During a tour of the husky farm you will have the opportunity to meet the husky dogs.  Instruction will be given on handling the huskys, setting up your sled and harnessing your dogs.  You will then be given tuition on handling the dog sled and managing your dog team.  Then you will be all set to make your first journey by husky sled.  On route you will have an open air lunch cooked on a fire.  Later in the day you will arrive at a wilderness cabin where you are able to have a sauna and wash.  A tasty evening meal will be cooked and served at the cabin.  Every one can help with feeding the dogs too and preparing the wood burning stoves for a cosy evening.  You will spend the night at the cabin in comfortable accommodation.

Day 3:  Breakfast.  Prepare your dog teams and sleds.  Full day dog sledding with open air or cabin lunch depending on the weather.  Return to Wilderness cabin, feed and settle the dogs.  Evening meal and accommodation at the cabin.

Day 4:  Breakfast.  Day tour with the dogs along the Norwegian Russian boarder.  Lunch.  Arrive back at the husky farm.  Transfer back to the Taiga guest house for hot tub, sauna and a delicious dinner.

Day 5:  Breakfast at Taiga.  Transfer to Jarfjord.  Day tour with the dogs in the Jarfjord mountain area including lunch

Transfer back from Jarfjord to Kirkenes.  Accommodation at one of the Rica hotels in Kirkenes and a chance to see the region’s main town.

Day 6:  Breakfast.  Free to depart- depending on your flight time you could have the time to visit the local museum to learn and understand more of the important war-time history of this region.
