About Zinal

At the southern end of Anniviers' Valley the resort of Zinal is located at 1,670 m, at the feet of the “Imperial Crown” the famous five 4,000 metre mountains (Weishorn, Zinal Rothorn, Bishorn, Obergabelhorn and Dent Blanche) they are dominated by the Weisshorn (the 4th European highest summit with its 4,506 m).

Altitude 1670 metres

Zinal is also a village of little chalets made out of arolle wood and shingle roofs.

In winter Zinal provides 70 km of alpine downhill ski pistes, 19.5 km of cross-country skiing, a freeride area, a snowpark, an avalanche training center, many snowshoe hikes, an ice skating rink, a swimming pool ... and only one skiing pass for all the ski runs of Val d'Anniviers, Grimentz - St-Luc - Chandolin and Vercorin (220 km of ski runs).

Zinal is ideal for both families and serious, experienced all mountain skiers.  The video below shows you some of the terrain and the off-piste potential! (note that it is only 1 minute long)

It is possible to ski from Zinal to the resort of Grimentz further down the valley via a beautiful off piste route.  This route is a mixture of open bowls and wide off piste tracks through the woods.  It is then possible to return to Zinal via the local ski bus service, around 10 minutes by road from Grimentz.  For people who enjoy off piste skiing, this excursion is a must.

Pedestrian Village Centre

In order to improve guests comfort and make the main road in the village more pleasant for families, the resort of Zinal has decided to allow only limited traffic in the village centre.  The are some feee access areas and the authorised speed limit has been reduced to 20kph
