Villa Fridau - St Jean ★★★★

You will have to try really hard to get bored at Villa Fridau: there is a warm den with a stone wood stove, a veranda with a library, a colourful playroom for children, a big chessboard on the terrace, the inviting aromas of the Mont Nèry Restaurant as well as the comforting Health Spa…

Opened in December 2008 by Paula, Massimo and their family, the eight apartments are colourful, fresh and simple. They are named after alpine plants; each one has its own personality and a wonderful view.

Accommodation

There are 5 two-room apartments. Each has a living room, a full-kitchen corner, a double-bed bedroom and a bathroom with a shower.

Two apartments have the bedroom upstairs.

There are 2 studio apartments with a full-kitchen corner and bathroom (one has a shower the other has a bathtub).

The Stadelte (chalet) Suite slightly separate from the main building is a splendidly renovated 1700’s barn, lovingly remodelled with larch wood panelling and furnished with old fashioned furniture.

Restaurant

The Mont Néry is a place of memories and flavours, an invitation to discover traditions.  There are many rooms, the dining rooms are called Gade (cowshed) and Wongade.  The walls are made of stone with larch wood panelling.  This is where everyone can gather around the wood stove to eat, tell stories, sew or whittle.

Cuisine and The Wine Cellar

The Wine Cellar - The tasting room, Wistòbò, has a vaulted stone ceiling. It is the perfect place to sample remarkable wines and liqueurs in company of their wine-making expert (if he is not drinking elsewhere). There is also an original niche in the wall (ice box) where in former times, at the end of the winter, snow was cleverly stored to conserve food through the summer.

The cuisine - This the owners personally oversee (Massimo is the Head Chef), is based on a rare concept; they serve what they would serve to their own dear friends.  The menu offers seasonal and regional food seeking quality by respecting local tradition which they believe is the best way to share a part of their alpine culture.

The Spa

The Spa - In creating the Health Spa the local mountains suggested the colours, the songs and the elements: warm autumn colours, wind rustling in the woods, stone and wood.  The treatments are in harmony with their spirit: the ancestral fire of the Steinbad Sauna, the relaxing waters of the Whirpool and Steam Bath, the vapour of alpine herbs and flowers of the Hayflower chair and a multi-sensation area.
Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Ether are the essential elements one is made of and in which one finds vital energies.  Villa Fridau’s Health Spa respects this philosophy and is ready to pamper you. Discover the magic of their Sauna Steinbad (stone bath) where water and fire mix, loose yourself in the scented vapours of the Steam Bath, let nature’s music rock you to sleep and warm your heart with a herbal tea as you succumb to the Hayflower Chair…

Location

Villa Fridau has a large meadow, which in summer can be crossed by a foot-path, it is edged with thyme and wild redcurrant bushes and leads to the Savoia Castle and the Queen’s Walk.   In the shade of the woods you can walk through the Sedia Dorata, Scala d’ Argento and Radura dello Scoiattolo.

Grocery stores, bars, restaurants, ski slopes, a snowpark for children and the Sporthaus with an indoor swimming pool and cinema are nearby.
