Hotel Weisshorn - St Luc
High altitude hotels are something of a Zuba Ski speciality and alongside the Rifugio Guglielmina in Alagna, the Hotel Weisshorn is another wonderful hotel set in the most spectacular location.
Perched on the top of the mountain up high above the south west facing village of St Luc, the hotel provides very comfortable accommodation for up to 60 people. As the sun sets across the valley, the views over to Grimentz, Vercorin and the swiss valais region are incredible.
Run by Otto, Christophe and Arnold (the Chef), they offer a fixed 4 course meal in the evenings for guest sleeping in one of the 30 rooms. There are 3 bathrooms on each floor as well as 2 showers on each floor respectively. The Hotel is open from mid December through until mid April and then again from mid June through until mid October.
Isolated at an altitude of 2,337m, perched over the Val d’Anniviers, the Weisshorn hotel has impressive views. Otto has been running the hotel for 16 years now and certainly knows how to make his guests feel very welcome.
Access to the hotel is either by skis and skins (you do have to climb up to the hotel from the main ski pistes of St Luc. Alternatively there is a piste ratrack which meets guests at 4pm every day from a specific pick up point (Chalet Blanc du Tounot) on the piste. Note that there is a CHF10 charge for this service.
Luggage can also be picked up from the top of the main funicular railway. This service has to be pre-booked and the luggage must be at the pick up point before 1.30pm. The lift staff will show you where to put your luggage. Note that if you are arriving on a Thursday night, there is traditionally a Raclette evening at the Hotel - which is something not to miss!
